Yusuf Has Hajip was a great scholar, thinker and philosopher of the Uyghur people. He was bo in Balasaghun in 1019 and later moved to Kashgar Silk Road travel, and it was here that he began his important life’s work, from 1069 to 1070. He completed his great book, named “Kutatgubilik” in the ancient Uyghur language. It contained his famous 13290 line poem, the theme of which was the wisdom of happiness and pleasure. This great book is the main resource for studying the local political situation, culture and the life of the people at that time. He presented his book to Ali Arislan Khan who was the King of Kara Khan Kingdom and was invited to become an advisor and was named “Has Hajip”, which means the special advisor of the King. He passed away in 1085 at the age of 67. In 1957, the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region govement classified this tomb as a vital key protected unit.

This tomb occupies an area of 11,988 square meters and includes the main tomb hall affordable China tours, a mosque, an exhibition room and a reception room. Over its history, the tomb has been rebuilt six times, the last one was done between 1986 and 1993. Its architecture is typical of both the ancient and mode Uyghur style.
